ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I think we create like we are created. Its an innate desire to create something after we enter this world, trying to replicate procreation. And I found out that a way to become something more than a living organism, I had to create , although I dont think , when I started out , I could have described my actions in these previous words. But I knew what it felt like making art, making something appear, almost out of thin air. Almost.
Another thing I have realised in my art is that, I have always fought space, always challenging the four sides of the frame, always composing so as to be able to break the dimension, I dont know how probable that sounds, but I do believe it should be atleast tried, because when it comes to being an artist, one must either explore or invent. If you can’t do either, then you arent much of an artist. For me, it has been both exploration and invention, though I havent reached at the unknown ends of any one of them.
Its queer how all my searches have, till now led to dealings with spaces. And destruction of dimensions. To go beyond the plastic experience of art in a certain dimension, to relieve itself of the tension of frame. But I think there is a fear in me too. A fear that , if the struggle with space disappears and I find out a way to break the simple mould of art the act of creation will be gone. Its like, to create a human , you need earth like environment. You never know, maybe the objective is to contain itself in a struggled existence. Maybe its the struggle thats more endearing, more heroic. Who knows?
We shall find out when we get there, hopefully.
